Shawn owns and runs his own garlic farm called Good Day Garlic. He loves spending time on snowy mountains in the winter and on blooming farm fields in the summer. In 2009, Shawn had an opportunity to start a backyard community garden at a friend’s house. This is where Shawn’s love of urban farming developed and where he familiarized himself with a wide variety of crops and processes. As a grade 3 teacher in Toronto, Shawn would bring his students to visit this garden to plant garlic. More recently, he joined an organic collective in Sutton, Ontario where Good Day Garlic thrives. His teaching career has come full circle, as he is now a STEM teacher with a focus on agriculture. Shawn is also very proud of his fluorescent green thumbs!
